Bring on the cream, Twinkies sells for $410 million
The creamy, spongy processed pair of cakes that stole the hearts of millions upon the news of their discontinuation is headed back to shelves - and as soon as this summer. Metropolous & Co. and Apollo Global Management joined forces today and put in an offer to purchase the pastry brand from Hostess for a reported $410 million. The CEO of Metropolous & Co. said that he's looking forward to having "America's favorite snacks back on the shelf by this summer."
America's favorite might be a stretch. Eitherway, there are a few things we've learned from this story: first, we pity the fool who paid $5000 for one twinkie on Ebay. And second, we're in the wrong business and need to start baking.
