Boozy Bears, Mule Shooters and Daiquiri Dunkers: 3 unique takes on the classic Jello Shot

Yeah, we've been to college. And while there's nothing more life affirming than testing your internal organs with warm shots of gelatinous muck and a splash of vodka, we felt like there were probably better ways to make the all time classic hit harder.

So we scoured the 'net and found these gems. We figure, since you have an ample amount of time on your hands for the next several weeks, go on give these three Jello Shot variant recipes a try. You'll quickly find you've upgraded your style from "basically meh" to "Classy As Fuck" in mere hours.

Strawberry Daiquiri Shooters

-1 box strawberry Jell-O
-1 cup water
-1/2 cup clear rum
-1/4 cup Grand Marnier
-1/4 cup freshly squeezed lime juice
-3 lbs. large strawberries
-Sugar and lime wedges (optional)

Prepare the Jell-O as it states on the box. Stir in rum, Grand Marnier and lime juice.

Cut off the bottom end of the strawberries so that they're able to sit upright. Then hollow out the berries with a pairing knife.

Place strawberries in a pan and fill them with the boozy gelatin mixture. Toss in the fridge and allow to set.

If you want to class up the joint before serving, rim the strawberry with sugar and garnish with the lime wedges. BOOM!

Moscow Mule Shots

-6 large limes, halved
-1 cup ginger beer
-2 envelopes unflavored gelatin
-3/4 cup vodka
-Chopped fresh mint

Cut limes in half lengthwise and juice until you've got at least 1/3 cup of liquid. Hollow out the flesh to make little "cups" for the mixture to set in.

In a sauce pan, add juice and ginger beer together. Shake gelatin over the liquid and let "bloom" — takes about 5 minutes. After, warm it up over low heat while stirring until dissolved. Bring to a low simmer and then stir in vodka and half of the mint. Turn off heat.

Let it cool and then carefully pour it into the lime halves. Top with remaining mint. Toss in fridge and let set (about 2 hours).

Slice the limes in half again and voilà!

Boozy Bears

-3 lbs. Gummy Bears

K, so this isn't so much a "Jello Shot" as it is just a really easy way to get drunk with some jelly. Called the "Lazy Man's Shooters" probably in some parts of the world somewhere, these things are easy as hell to make. Simply dump a package of Gummy Bears into a glass bowl. Cover with vodka. Let sit about 3 days (or more depending on taste) and watch as the bears (or worms, or sharks or whatever) grow — soaking in the booze like they were made specifically with you in mind.

Eat. Enjoy.
